Lets Manage Some Content!

A content management system (CMS) is a web tool allowing businesses to effectively manage website content through a user-friendly interface. Every CMS is composed of a front-end and a back-end.

The CMS back-end contains a password protected interface for managing webpage content. This interface is available to specified system administrators within your organization. The CMS front-end is composed of web page templates for displaying this content throughout your website.

This system allows you to continually provide customers and/or employees with current, accurate information. It also allows non-technical staff to manage that content while maintaining proper page layout and text formatting. Websites utilizing CMS may be hosted on the internet or company intranets. CMS areas may be both publicly and/or privately available. CMS pages are used to display general information, news, events, photos, calendars, schedules, ad infinitum.

That is very true. It depends on where you want to spend your time and effort. Having someone customize the CMS that has the right combination of design and technical skills that understands your goals is very important.

Each CMS system out there has the basic functionality of controlling a sites content, but the type of content and the ease of getting it setup to manage that content can very greatly. Anyone who is considering a CMS system should work with their web technology team to clearly define the goals for the site and pick a CMS system to skin and customize based on those goals.
